Easy Dehydrated Food Recipes

My dehydrated food recipes featured on this site are included in the eBook or Paperback if you prefer. The recipes are taste-tested and so easy to make!

All the recipes in 20 Taste-Tested Easy Recipes contain dehydrated food but are not made "solely" of dehydrated food. For example, you need to add stock and meat to the soups.

The recipe books also tells you what quantities of "fresh foods" to use—that you may have on hand and wish to use—instead of dehydrated!

ALSO: if you're a "Grow" member, you'll get to see what fresh foods to use right on the page! Mouse down to the "Share" icon in the lower right-hand corner and sign up - it's free!

BUT FIRST:

Can You Really Use Dehydrated Food in Recipes?

If you have a dehydrator, you may be wondering if you can use dehydrated food in recipes. The answer is a resounding yes! Dehydrated foods are used in a variety of recipes, including soups, stews, casseroles, and more.

When using dehydrated foods in recipes, it's important to rehydrate them first. This can be done by soaking the dried food in water for a few hours or overnight.

NOTE: If you made a powder out of your foods, then you can add it "as is" to your recipe.

Once the food is rehydrated, it can then be added as you would any other ingredient. Keep in mind that dehydrated foods will often need to cook a tad longer than fresh or frozen foods, so plan accordingly.

Dehydrated foods can add nutrition and flavor to your recipes. When foods are dried, they become stronger in taste, so a little goes a long way! Don't be afraid to experiment with dried food to add flavor.

MAIN MEALS

Can You Use Dehydrated Foods in Desserts?

Dehydrated foods are great for use in desserts! This may seem strange, but dehydrated fruits and vegetables can add a lot of flavor and nutrition to sweet dishes.

For example, dehydrated bananas can be used in banana bread or muffins. Dehydrated carrots can be added to carrot cake. Dehydrated zucchini can be used in zucchini bread.

So if you're looking for a new way to add some flavor to your desserts, consider using dehydrated foods. You may be surprised at how good they taste!

EXTRAS

Easy to Make PIZZA!

A slice of homemade pizza on a plate

Check out this tasty pizza with its crust made with this "Super Easy Bread" recipe!

Anita's breads are really easy to make. I am surprised at how few ingredients go into Anita's bread to be honest.

One of my favorite experiences was baking bread with my mum. We used a "home-baked bread" recipe, and we even impressed ourselves with how 'professional' our loaves looked!

Also in the extras, you'll see millet and quinoa. Even though they look the same, they do not taste the same at all. I find quinoa to be a little on the grainy side. With quinoa, you MUST rinse it first to get rid of the bitter taste. I use this sieve from Fantes.com to rinse my quinoa.

Can You Use Dried Berries in Smoothies?

If you're looking for a way to add some sweetness to your smoothies, use dried berries. Dried berries are a super source of natural sugars and add a lot of flavor to smoothies.

If using dried berries in smoothies, it's important to rehydrate them first. Do this by soaking the berries in water for a few hours or overnight.

Once the berries are rehydrated, they can then be added to your smoothie along with the other ingredients.

Dried berries can also be added to yogurt or oatmeal for a delicious and nutritious breakfast.

Get the Kids Involved! ;-)

Get your kids involved; they have fun watching the foods dry up and shrink right before their eyes! I'm always fascinated by how celery shrivels up into curls—they remind me of tiny seahorses!

I hope you and your family enjoy my recipes. Meal prep time is greatly reduced because I use dehydrated ingredients—which helps when I'm in a hurry or running late.

Of course, I still have to find time to dehydrate the foods in the first place, but that's something I do on a day off!

Thanks for stopping by my dehydrated food recipes page. I hope you'll try your hand at making these recipes; they're easy (otherwise I wouldn't have made them!)

A reminder: in the Recipe eBook, there are 26 recipes included; all recipes show the amount of dehydrated ingredients to use and the fresh-food amounts too! The book is available as an eBook or paperback.
