Food Glorious Food: No Asking for More

Food Glorious Food:
No Asking for More

Cornucopia

We Must Work with What We Have

Many of us know the 'Food Glorious Food' story of orphan-boy Oliver, asking for "more" at the dinner table ... but our situation today is a far cry from Oliver's plight!

I open my fridge/freezer doors, there's food.

Open my pantry door, there it sits. I Look on my kitchen counter top ...

I can't get away from it!

This may all be 'fine and dandy' but are YOU prepared in the event of a food shortage?

But Is There Enough
'Food Glorious Food'
To Go Around?

Family Eating

Just looking around at passersby, the average person to me isn't built like there's 'not enough food to go around' ... the grocery stores are chock-full of it; it's in every restaurant; it's eaten at every birthday, holiday, and celebration party!

There's food to eat when we're sad – and when we're happy. Food glorious food.

As a nation, we are obsessed with it – we eat too much of it – just look at the diet industry spawned by overeating! So it's no surprise really to find that people are not panicking over a 'lack of food', or lack of anything, for that matter.

That's good. I'm not here to make people panic. I just want people to be prepared, just in case that rainy day does come along and there's not enough food glorious food on our dining tables.

If you are prepared (have some put away or are growing your own) then you've nothing to fear ... and you'll be able to help your other family members and maybe your neighbors!

Are you still humming the "Food Glorious Food" tune? I am!

Smartphone Technology

Smartphone
Technology

'Things' have changed drastically over the past decade – and you don't need me to tell you that. With the advent of smartphones, everyone now has the capability of becoming 'a reporter' – sending out stories via phone apps at the speed of light.

Thing is, do we stop to think before we post? Are we making matters worse by adding fuel to the fire? More importantly, is what we're posting the TRUTH?

The GOOD news about smartphones IS the ability to send a message FAST. Help can arrive in a matter of minutes ... instead of hours, or days.

Falling Economy

US Dollar Meltdown?

Nobody knows what is going to happen or when it's going to happen. But I know one thing, I certainly want to be prepared for it if it does happen. There's nothing worse than feeling out of the loop and then kicking yourself later for not having prepared when you had the chance. So keep an eye on Fox News and Glenn Beck!

Then there's the likely meltdown of the US dollar. Due to Japan's nuclear catastrophe, Japan won't have any 'spare money' to buy our debt (to help prop up the US dollar); their money will be better used to rebuild their infrastructure. That only leaves China who carries lots of US debt on their books already. What happens when China no longer wants our debt? The US dollar will fail. There's no-one left to buy our debt! The US government keeps monetizing the US debt (as in printing more dollars) and that creates inflation.

Too much debt monetizing leads to hyperinflation. Look at the two year period of 1921 - 1923 in Weimar Republic (Germany). Click here then come back! Their hyperinflation wasn't the worst in history, it was officially beaten by Hungary and Zimbabwe.

Don't panic! History shows that fiat currencies usually 'only' have a lifespan of '30 to 40 years', so if history is right, then the US dollar is ready for a collapse.

And if the dollar does collapse, then that will be one heck of a challenge for all of America and the world. Yes, a new monetary system will be put in place, and in my humble opinion, there will be general unrest and outrage for a while as to why 'every day people on the street' did NOT know what was going on, or at least fully understand the implications of 'fiat currency' ... so I'm saying be prepared by having more "food glorious food" put away by dehydrating what you can, right now!

The hardest hit will be the poor and middle class who don't have enough money put away for the rainy day – those of us who are living paycheck to paycheck. All this is compounded by insidious inflation – you can't get ahead, no matter how hard you try!

Buy Stuff with "Real" Money

Buy Stuff with
"Real" Money

If the dollar fails, what will you buy food with? Real money. Click here for more on real money. Then when the dust settles, a new currency will be put in place. Something else to check out: Bitcoin. They've had their ups and downs, but now more major retailers are either using Bitcoin as an alternative to worthless paper money, or seriously considering it.

So, to continue: We can prepare now by perhaps becoming a little less reliant on the big grocery store chains and start to become a little more self-sufficient by growing our own vegetables and fruits.

Sock It Away ... Now!

Sock away some bags of flour, quinoa, millet, lentils, peas, beans - now. These are all great food staples. It's learning what to do with 'em that counts! It's back to basics! We have quite a few easy tasty recipes using the above ingredients. And you're more than welcome to share your own recipes with us!

Food Inflation

What happens when people can't afford to buy food at today's rapidly inflating prices? What happens when it rots in the stores, or worse, just plain runs out? Are you prepared for that scenario?

If you've been prudent and have prepared a little (or a lot) in advance, you'll at least have some canned meats and canned fish (tuna, salmon, crab, mackerel) items for protein put away. Some packs of dried milk, maybe powdered eggs, bottled water.

If you've been REALLY GOOD(!) and are very much prepared, then you'll have lots of dehydrated vegetables and fruits already packed away!

If prices of electricity and gas get completely out of hand, then what are we going to use for fuel and how are we going to cook our meals? I guess many of us have barbecue grills out there, so we're somewhat prepared. Some of us may be good at lighting camp fires!

I came across a super versatile back-up stove called the "Crisis Cooker". It enables us to prepare hot meals, even when the power is off ...

Please visit the Crisis Cooker page for great info. and how you can cook your meals on this super versatile backup emergency stove! After all, there's nothing worse than having "Food Glorious Food" on hand, and then having nothing to cook it on!
