Sorry! Boardgame

Start a New Habit

Why not start a new habit?

– also known as a New Year Resolution – but this one's different.  How so? I discovered it by accident!

I have to go back to Christmas, the turkey meal and trimmings were eaten, pumpkin pie polished off, dishes done, and now it was time for the chief cook and bottle washer to actually sit down and do nothing. Yeah, right.

Constitution Quest –
Get to Know History!

Anyway, I'd bought my husband (shown inset) a boardgame as a Christmas present called "Constitution Quest" which I got via TheMarketPlace at Glenn Beck's site.

What a great game –well made – top notch and all. We learned a lot about US History!

Bringing Us Closer Together ...

I don't know if your household is like ours, but after dining, and dishes are done, we tend to scatter to our (computer) rooms and only get back together to speak (during commercials while we fast-forward with the remote) while watching recorded TV shows later on! So what?

Well, the boardgame brought us face to face and I immensely enjoyed the friendly interaction (sometimes unfriendly if I lost – hey I'm a sore loser!). It brought us closer together.

Good Old Monopoly

I then had my parents over and we played Monopoly.  Where did that game come from? Over five years ago, my mom bought my hubby and I a great board game set in a handsome wooden case, with sliding drawer for storing game pieces. It was not exactly stored in a place where you'd be enticed to play games. It was pushed beneath a storage cabinet! (red-faced from the shame of it).

It came complete with Monopoly, Sorry!, Dominoes, Chess, Checkers, Cribbage, and good old playin' cards.

I'd Hit the Jackpot ...
A Bonanza of
Board Games!

We pretty much played 'em all ... and now we look forward to closing down the PC an hour or two earlier, and muting the phones, and definitely NOT turning the TV on until we've played a board game ... or two.

We The People Fight Tyranny ...

We The People
Fight Tyranny ...

Well, I'm hooked now. In fact, I ordered yet another board game from Glenn Beck's Marketplace – this one is called "We The People Fight Tyranny"... (gosh tyranny is such a hard word to type! LOL) and the board game should be here tomorrow – can't wait! I'll report back on this new game later :-)

Why don't you try it? Instead of digital games played solo, drag out a good old board game and get together for one-on-one time – or fun for the whole family?

Regarding the usual New Year's Resolution, I'm down 2.2 lbs!

See you next time and don't forget: Start a New Habit at your home – preferably a good one – LOL.
